Installation

High-level Technical Overview

Coursedog uses standard PeopleSoft Service Operations (aka Web Services) via its built in Integration Broker functionality to read data. All data is exchanged over HTTPS. No other connection methods are required, and no direct access to the institution’s database is necessary.

During this installation process, Coursedog delivers several independent PeopleSoft service operations and their associated PeopleSoft objects. There is a listing of objects included in this document. These are all new objects that are stand-alone: Coursedog does NOT modify standard PeopleSoft objects or components or institution-specific customizations, to ensure there is no impact on your standard production patching and upgrades.

At a high level, the install process is 5 steps.

  1. Import the PeopleSoft Application projects into the target database.
  2. Configure required security, permissions, and data access policies
  3. Whitelist Coursedog servers to allow connection to the PeopleSoft integration gateway
  4. Provide information and credentials to Coursedog to connect to the gateway
  5. Coursedog will test and validate the integrations

If performing a package upgrade, please see the Coursedog Peoplesoft Package Upgrade Guide
